MESA would like to invite you to this yearŐs third colloquium featuring Laine Bradshaw. Laine is a recent graduate from GeorgiaŐs Math Education MasterŐs and BachelorŐs programs. She is currently a Ph.D. student in the REMS program at UGA.
This past summer Laine interned with Claire Pierce, the Mathematics Program Manager for the Department of Education. Throughout the summer, Laine had the opportunity to participate in high school training sessions for Mathematics 1, task authoring, and implementation toolkit development.
Pierce says, ŇLaine has been more than an intern. Her familiarity with the standards and her knowledge of mathematics allowed her to function as an integral part of our team. She will be an outstanding leader in mathematics education. We need many more young people like her, willing to major in math and science.Ó
Laine will be joining us to share some information on the implementation process of the new standards and to lead us in taking a closer look at the mathematics within and teaching practices encouraged by the Georgia Performance Standards for Mathematics. We hope that you can join us for this exciting event!
