The main goal of this assignment is for me to get to
know you a little better and to understand some of the assumptions you bring
to this class. This assignment should also help make your own ideas about
mathematics more explicit.
a--Make a drawing of what comes to mind when you think
about mathematics; provide a caption for your picture and an explanation.
b--Draw a picture of a mathematician.
c--Write a one to two-page reflection about your experience as a mathematics student (you can start at Kindergarten if you wish!!). Position yourself concerning how "good" you were/are in mathematics. Discuss your feelings about mathematics, your perception of yourself as a mathematics learner and teacher. Mention those who were important in your "mathematical learning history"-they can be ex-teachers, family, friends, and they may have impacted you positively or negatively. (Hand in on Monday, 8/26)
